GANGES TWP., MI (WHTC) – A 42-year-old Saugatuck man is dead and his driver awaits charges stemming from a single-vehicle crash on Sunday night in the Fennville area.
According to Allegan County Sheriff’s Captain Chris Kuhn, first responders were dispatched to 116th Avenue near 65th Street on a report of a crash around 9:20 PM. They found a pickup truck that appeared to have rolled over while traveling westbound, with passenger Jeremy Slenk apparently thrown from the vehicle. He was airlifted to Bronson Hospital with critical head injuries and succumbed shortly after arrival.
The driver, identified initially as a female, went to Holland Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then taken to the Allegan County Jail, where she awaited arraignment on drunken driving and driving with a suspended license causing death charges.
Kuhn added that the driver was buckled up but that Slenk was not as the crash remains under investigation.
