HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – It’s the end of an era with the Holland Civic Center closing it’s doors for renovation.
Asbestos removal starts this week and should take between four and eight weeks says City Manager Ryan Cotten. From there nothing will happen until after Tulip Time.
Residents of Holland will be able to leave their mark on the new Civic Center says Mayor Nancy DeBoer.
“We are in the process of getting a fundraiser who will oversee all of those details. We want a way for people to put their name on things. There still would be potential for donations in naming rooms or we don’t even have a name for the full plaza of the Civic Center. Please keep connecting with us and help us finish this project in the very best way we can.”
Putting people’s names on bricks on the sidewalk was one option discussed by the Holland City Council.
Shovels will hit the ground this July, and then the Civic Center ribbon-cutting is scheduled in September of 2018.
