WASHINGTON, DC (WHTC) – Republican Congressman Bill Huizenga is pleased with President Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress.
President Trump said in his first address to a joint session of Congress, that America’s infrastructure has crumbled while trillions of dollars have been spent in the Middle East. He said the two guiding principles of the effort will be “Buy American, and Hire American.”
Republican Congressman Bill Huizenga said President Trump made good points related to investing in infrastructure projects.
“Very important when he’s talking about manufacturing. Manufacturing and the industrial base is key, not only for Michigan, but for us as a country.” Huizenga said following the session.
In his first speech to Congress, President Trump says he inherited several challenges from the previous administration. Trump said 94 million Americans are out of the labor force, over 40 million are living in poverty and over 20-percent of those who are of working age aren’t working.
Huizenga also added that Trump does not lack confidence in the direction he wants to go.
“It was rapid fire. I thought it was a pretty massive to-do-list.” Congressman Huizenga is a weekly guest on WHTC Morning News Thursday mornings at 8:15 a.m.
