GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – The Army Corps of Engineers is warning people to stay off the south pier in Grand Haven.
The pier is unsafe because of the renovation work is not done yet says Engineer Tom O’Bryan. Right now the life rings are gone and so are the emergency call boxes. A is a fence up to try to keep people off the pier.
“I was out here yesterday and it was relatively nice with the sun shining and there was probably about 20 people out to the fence. How are they getting out there? They are hanging onto the poles and swinging around. It’s not the safest operation.”
Access to the pier was closed last summer for renovation work and will open it back up when it’s complete.
