WYOMING, MI (WHTC) – Three yet-to-be named persons from the Holland area are behind bars after a Thursday morning police chase that began at a Borculo residence ended with a crash in front of an apartment complex in Wyoming.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Captain Mark Bennett, an unnamed homeowner called Central Dispatch around 9:15 AM when the alarm at his Longwood Drive dwelling was triggered by the trio of burglars. “The homeowner had told dispatch that he could see, via his home security system, that three suspects were inside of his home, removing items,” Bennett said. “While calling 911, the victim returned home and noticed the suspects’ vehicle leaving the scene of his home. At about the same time, deputies arriving also noted the suspects’ vehicle and gave chase.”
The eastbound pursuit through Jenison and Grandville reached speeds of nearly 100 miles an hour at times and involved three other law enforcement entities before the suspects’ vehicle lost control and rolled over off in the 44th Street-Byron Center Avenue vicinity, about 20 minutes after it had begun. Several items from the victimized home, along with a handgun and ammunition, were seized by authorities.
A 26-year-old woman driver and two male passengers, aged 33 and 26, were taken into custody without further incident and are lodged in the Ottawa County Jail pending a Friday morning arraignment in Holland District Court on various charges.
The incident remains under investigation.
