FERRYSBURG, MI (WHTC) – A Muskegon man received minor injuries after crashing a cement truck in Ferrysburg.
Sgt. Jason Kik of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says that deputies were dispatched to Third Street and US-31 shortly after 11 a.m on Wednesday, February 22. 45-year-old Sean Jermaine Jennings who was driving a 1999 Osh Kosh cement truck for Port City Redi Mix of Grand Rapids was southbound on US-31 and after exiting the ramp at Ferrysburg, he was unable to stop at the bottom of the ramp and entered into the roadway onto 3rd Street.
Jennings then swerved to avoid traffic on Third street and the truck then rolled over onto it’s side and struck a railroad crossing. Jennings was transported to North Ottawa Community Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The cement truck was fully loaded with 9 yards of cement and weighed around 36,000 pounds. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash and Third Street was closed for several hours as crews disassembled the cement truck and removed it from the roadway.
The road re-opened just before 4 p.m.
