LANSING, MI (WHTC) – More road work for Holland’s North Side has been given a green light from Lansing.
The state Department of Transportation has awarded the Ottawa County Road Commission a 375 thousand-dollar Transportation Economic Development Fund Category F grant for helping to pay for resurfacing James Street from US-31 to Chicago Drive. Drainage improvements along the 2.6-mile route is also included in the project dealing with a road that has “severely deteriorated” over the years. The grant will go towards the nearly 1.3 million-dollar price tag for the effort, with the Road Commission paying 70 percent of its cost.
This is one of nine TEDF grants statewide, totaling more than 2.5 million dollars, announced by M-DOT on Thursday from 42 applications submitted in this competitive program. There was no immediate word from the OCRC as to when this project will begin.
