HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – No one was injured an accidential house fire in Holland Sunday evening.
Holland Department of Public Safety (HDPS) fire and police were dispatched to 663 East 11th Street Sunday evening, February 12, around 6:02 p.m. after black smoke was reported coming from the basement. Units arrived six minutes later to the single family residence and found all occupants had safely evacuated the building.
Fire personnel entered the structure and the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes of arrival. They remained on scene until 7:49 p.m. searching for hidden fire, ventilating and conducting salvage operations.
The cause of the fire is believed to be most likely the result of combustibles there were in contact with the burner of a stovetop located in the basement. Estimated damage loss is not available at this time. The basement was damaged by the fire and the remainder of the home sustained smoke damage.
HDPS was assisted by there Victim Services Unit, the American Red Cross, AMR, Holland BPW and Semco Gas. The Hamilton Fire Department provided coverage of the City for subsequent incidents while Holland units were committed to the fire.
