HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The Holland Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) is on the road spreading the news that Holland is a great destination to visit.
Sally Laukitis, Executive Director of the Holland Area Convention & Visitors Bureau says they have been at several travel shows across the country. Most recently they were in Indianapolis with a upcoming travel show in Columbus, Ohio.
Laukitis tells WHTC News that their booth at travel shows is always packed and with Tulip Time just around the corner, that’s good news.
Recently the Mackinac Center for Public Policy questioned the expenditures of Pure Michigan and whether or not it comes back. Laukitis says she was recently in Lansing with Dave Lorenz of Pure Michigan and a number of tourism people from around the state. As they recapped their strategic plan that started in 2012 and wraps up in 2017, international travel was one of the topics.
“Since 2013, the number of Chinese visitors to Holland have doubled. The numbers from Germany have increased tenfold and from the Netherlands fourfold. We are seeing it here and we are seeing new money come in from the money we are spending.”
Teaming up with Pure Michigan for a Super Bowl ad in the program will have Holland on the map nationwide as the program is not only available at the Super Bowl, but on sale at 25 metropolitan airports and is considered a collectible.
