1/23 Monday: Free Puppy Socials at Chow Hound Holland- Socializaton is vital to healthy puppy development. These fun play dates are hosted by Paradigm Dog School and will be monitored by a professional dog trainer. All puppies must have proof of current vaccines. 1/24 Tuesday: Contemporary Native Voices at The Holland Area Arts Council- An exhibition highlighting the works of Native Great Lakes artists whose works reflect their cultural heritage but have reached beyond the boundaries of tradition. Works from the collections of Grand Valley State University, Michigan State University will also be exhibited. 150 E 8th St, Holland; 10am-8pm. Free.
1/25 Wednesday: 4th Annual Chili Cook Off and Trivia Night Holland Heights Church- Do you have an amazing Chili recipe? Enter it into Holland Heights Church Chili cook off! Sign up at church! Love eating chili? Here is your chance to try a few, or all of the entries! Then, vote on the yummiest one! After you eat the chili they will have our highly popular trivia night! 1/26 Thursday: Holland Civic Theatre Presents: Lion in Winter- Sibling rivalry, adultery and dungeons – Lion in Winter, by James Goldman, is a modern day classic. Comedic in tone, dramatic in action – the play tells the story of the Plantagenet family who are locked in a free for all of competing ambitions to inherit a kingdom. The queen, and wealthiest woman in the world, Eleanor of Aquitaine, has been kept in prison since raising an army against her husband, King Henry II. Let out only for holidays, the play centers around the inner conflicts of the royal family as they fight over both a kingdom, as well as King Henry’s paramour during the Christmas of 1183. As Eleanor says, “every family has its ups and downs,” and this royal family is no exception. 50 West Ninth Street, Holland; 7:30pm; $10-$18.
1/27 Friday: WLHT “Never Forgotten” Game at DeVos Fieldhouse- 2017 6th Annual WLHT “Never Forgotten” game between Varisty Basketball teams, Fennville Blackhawks and the Saugatuck Indians. All the money raised is donated to the Wes Leonard Heart Team, we donate AED’s to schools around Michigan that are in need. Whether your a fan of the greatest small town rivalary or a passionate supporter of the Wes Leonard Heart Team, all are welcome to attend this amazing event. Besides two great basketball games, the night also includes raffles, 50/50 drawing, and multiple donations of AED’s to schools all around Michigan. 222 Fairbanks Ave, Holland; Girls Game at 6:30 p.m. Boys Game (20 min following conclusion of Girls game); $12 for ticket and T-shirt, $5 for just ticket.
1/28 Saturday: The Winter Sky at Hemlcok Crossing- What is up in the night sky tonight? You will find out about constellations and their lore as well as what planets are visible and other upcoming events. No registration required. 8115 West Olive Rd., West Olive; 7pm-8:30pm.
