GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – When heading north on U.S. 131 Memorial Day weekend, you’ll make better time without getting a ticket.
Due to an increase in the speed limit, we will be able to drive faster and legally when the speed limit will be going up to 75 miles an hour just north of Grand Rapids. As far as new signs on the highway, don’t count on it. MDOT says in most cases the “zero” will be covered by a “five” until the signs need to be replaced.
Lawmakers last year approved higher speed limits for rural stretches of highways in the state.
