HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A 71-year-old Holland man has succumbed to injuries suffered when he was struck by a SUV on the Tulip City’s south side.
The Kent County Medical Examiner’s Office notified Holland Department of Public Safety on Wednesday morning of the death of John Dunn. He was first taken to Holland Hospital shortly after the 6:30 PM incident last night in which he was hit on South Washington Avenue north of the US-31 junction by a southbound vehicle. Dunn eventually went to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment of critical injuries. The SUV driver, 55-year-old Connie Hoffman of South Haven, was not hurt.
Public Safety officers say that speed and alcohol didn’t appear to be factors in the crash. The case remains open, with anyone having further information asked to contact the Holland Department of Public Safety.
Upon completion of an investigation, the matter will be sent to the Allegan County Prosecutor’s Office for review, as is standard procedure in any fatal road-related incident.
