HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC) – A reported New Year’s Eve morning shooting of a family dog in the Hudsonville area has Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies investigating and efforts for redress in the courts being considered.
Linda Holmes went to both WWMT-TV and WXMI-TV to claim that her six-year-old German Shepherd was shot in the head twice minutes after she had let the animal and two other canines out of her house. Holmes heard barking followed by a gunshot, with a second shot shortly thereafter. “Sawyer” was found lying dead at the edge of a neighbor’s property.
Neither media outlet provided any other details as to the location of the incident, and the unnamed neighbor did not respond to requests by the two stations for comment.
The sheriff’s department has yet to release a statement on the incident, and Holmes told the Kalamazoo station that her family “is looking to hire a lawyer.”
