GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) – A former Grand Haven School Board member was hoping to begin 2017 on the state Capitol steps in Lansing but will instead start the new year in the Ottawa County Jail.
Brandon Hall was sentenced on Tuesday to 30 days behind bars, 18 months probation and various court costs and fees. He was convicted last month of 10 counts of felony election fraud for forging signatures on nomination petitons for Grand Haven District Court judicial candidate Chris Houghtaling four years ago.
In 2010, Hall served two years probation after a conviction of taking 750 dollars from a Grand Haven High fundraiser while on the district’s school board. He had been a political blogger and ran unsuccessfully in the GOP primary this past August for the state House seat being relinquished by the term-limited Amanda Price of Park Township.
Hall was taken to the Ottawa County Jail following Tuesday’s court proceedings to begin his sentence.
