HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Some Consumers Energy customers south of West Michigan Regional Airport were without power for a couple of hours due to a crash late yesterday afternoon.
Holland Public Safety officers and other first responders were called to 64th Street between Lincoln and Washington avenues around 4:30 PM on a report of a car that slammed into a power pole. The collision caused the pole to snap and power lines to go down on the roadway and onto the vehicle of an unnamed 19-year-old Holland woman. Utility crews were dispatched to deactivate the electrical lines and allow rescuers to extricate the driver, who was taken to Holland Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The crash was among several in the northern Allegan County area yesterday afternoon that were apparently caused by black ice conditions, including the necessity of closing M-40 in both directions between 140th and 141st avenues for a time.
