HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Terrorism is rearing its ugly head again as the Holiday season is underway.
The death of at least 12 people and the injuring of dozens more when a semi plowed into shoppers at a Christmas market in Berlin comes on the heels of the assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey in Ankara and the deaths of 10 persons, including a Canadian tourist, in Jordan, all in the past three days. Former US House Intelligence Committee Chairman Pete Hoekstra says that these incidents indicate that the threat from “Radical Jihadism” is far from over.
The Holland Republican, now a consultant with the non-profit group Investigative Project on Terrorism, told WHTC News that, “They have a breath of reach in being able to go from the Middle East into Europe, and then being able to take out the Russian ambassador shows the depth of their capabilities. It’s really kind of scary.”
ISIS has already claimed responsibility for the incident in Germany and “celebrates” the assassination of the Russian diplomat, while investigators didn’t immediately determine if that group was behind the ambush in Jordan.
