HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Snow days are a boost to local businesses and downtown Holland was bustling with families on this years first snow day.
Business owners say cold days can keep business down, but snow days bring people out to downtown with their children, especially before Christmas as a time to buy presents and get out of the house.
Jazmin Garcia with Subs N More says the snow helps bring more people to her restaurant. “Usually we’ve been really slow because it’s cold out, but a snow day really helps out business.”
Owners say the snow also encourages people to shop locally. Will we see another snow day before Christmas? That remains to be seen. Arctic air is moving in and although we will see a few inches of snow daily, by the time the next winter storm rolls through, kids will be on Christmas break anyway.
