GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – The first winter storm of the season along the Lakeshore is winding down.
Although the Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM, forecasters in the regional National Weather Service office at Ford Airport in Grand Rapids say that snow showers will decrease in intensity as the afternoon goes on, with up to three more inches expected. Gusty winds leading to near whiteout conditions at times due to blowing and drifting is what is keeping this caution in place.
According to a weather service-trained spotter near Hamilton, nine inches has fallen since the Warning took effect at 12 Midnight on Thursday morning, with heavier amounts to the south. While a respite is predicted for the weekend, another wintry blast is forecast for arrival in Michigan by the middle of next week.
