SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC) – A long-time relationship between the Saugatuck-Douglas Visitors Bureau and its Executive Director will come to an end.
Felicia Fairchild had officially been a “consultant” with the Bureau when she submitted a letter to the Board of Directors on Wednesday stating, “It is with sincere mixed emotions that I am ending our long-standing business relationship to take on a new assignment. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to successfully lead the development of the tourism industry in the Saugatuck-Douglas area, and I am gratified to have elevated it into one of the top 5 tourist destination in the Midwest and ‘The Best Coastal Small Town in America!’”
In regretfully accepting her decision, the Board expressed its appreciation for “leaving the community with a legacy of press accolades valued at over 103 million dollars … the direct economic impact of tourism on the local economy has grown to 255 million per year.”
A two-term Travel Commissioner for the state during the Engler Administration, Fairchild will remain in her role with the Bureau through January 7th.
