HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – Two of the five steps needed by the Greater Ottawa County United Way to reach its annual fundraising goal have been taken.
Officials of the community agency announced on Thursday that the campaign reached its 40-percent plateau this week. Since fundraising began on September 17th, around a million dollars have been garnered through workplace campaigns and individual donations.
What has pleased United Way President Patrick Moran and others involved with the effort have been various incentives for giving that has helped bolster contributions. “This is an exciting time of year for us,” he said in a recent appearance on “WHTC Talk of the Town.” “We’re right in the middle of our campaign so we’re out visiting hundreds of companies and talking to tens of thousands of people about how to be a part of our community.”
The goal for this campaign is the same as last year’s, when the local United Way fell about 300 thousand dollars short of the 2.5 million-dollar target.
