ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) – As the search for the “perfect” live Christmas tree is underway, a Master Gardener has some tips for what to look for.
In her weekly appearance on “WHTC Morning News” in Holland, MI on Tuesday, Jan Meeuwsen of Debruyn Seed in Zeeland said, “Make sure you get the right size; measure beforehand because (the trees) look completely different outside how tall these trees are. Check to see what the branches are like and make sure that they are nice and sturdy. Grab a bunch of needles on the tree and try to pull them off; if they pull off too quickly, that tree is not as fresh as you want.”
Meeuwsen adds that going to a tree farm and chopping down your own should ensure the freshness of the tree, and keeping the tree watered is of utmost importance.
