HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – There are plans to build homes on a portion of Saugatuck dunes.
Cottage Home which is a Holland construction company, will purchase 309 acres of dune land that was once owned by billionaire Aubrey McClendon. McClendon who became notorious in West Michigan for his plans and the subsequent legal wrangling to redevelop a stretch of Saugatuck Township’s delicate sand dunes known as the Dennison property, died in a fiery car crash in Oklahoma in March of 2016.
WOOD TV 8 reports that Cottage Home will build single-family homes along the water with the rest of the property left untouched. The plans are not firm yet, but the development is consistent with present day zoning of the land.
Cottage Homes is expected to close on the land in the next 30-60 days.
