HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – More than a thousand Consumers Energy customers on Holland’s North Side had a powerless lunch on Tuesday.
Officials of the Jackson-based utility say that the most affected area was west of Butternut Drive, south of Quincy Street, and north of Lake Macatawa. Another area that had issues was along Lakewood Boulevard and James Street from River Avenue to 112th Avenue. Not only were homes and business affected, but traffic signals were also out, causing numerous traffic backups on US-31 and other arteries. The Holland Board of Public Works reported no issues among its customers in that area.
There was no word as to what led to the outage. Power was restored to most of the affected customers by 2:15 PM.
