HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police will release a joint statement on Friday, November 25, on the shooting of a Holland Township man who as show by a deputy.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputy is on administrative leave after shooting and killing a 43-year-old Holland Township man.
The deputy opened fire three times when the man charged at him with a large knife at an apartment just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, according to Undersheriff Steve Kempker
The deputy had been called to Beeline Apartments for a medical emergency. Kempker says the suspect refused several orders to drop the knife before being shot.
Kempker tells WHTC News there is no body camera footage and that the Sheriff’s Office has turned the case over to the Michigan State Police.
