ROBINSON TWP, MI (WHTC) – A motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries when he crashed while trying to avoid hitting a deer northwest of Allendale.
Sgt. Bob Ruster of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 1 p.m. Thursday in the area of Bass Drive and Lincoln Street.
William Payette, 58, of Grand Haven, laid his 2004 Yamaha motorcycle down when a deer ran across the road in front of him. In an attempt to avoid hitting the deer, he laid down his motorcycle and the motorcycle slid and rolled over on top of him coming to rest in the middle of the roadway.
Payette suffered massive internal injuries.
He was transported to Spectrum Hospital where his condition is not known. The crash remains under investigation.
