HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The heavy lifting is over … now the wait begins.
An “Eyes on the Prize” rally is slated for this evening at the Holland Area Arts Council building, as Mayor Nancy DeBoer, Third Ward Councilman Brian Burch and other leaders will look back over the two-year effort by the City of Holland to land a five million-dollar Georgetown University Energy Grant that will be awarded to one community nationwide that implement creative strategies to increase energy efficiency. The Tulip City is among 50 finalists for the grant, and City Manager Ryan Cotton cautions those attending tonight that the final decision is not yet made. “We wish (that this would be a victory party),” he recently told WHTC News, “but there is a period where we need to put together all of the programs we instituted, as well as the final data, so it will be early next year before we know.”
Tonight’s event runs from 5 PM to 7 PM and is free to the public.
