LANSING, MI (WHTC) – Jon Van Allsburg will have a new title next year.
An Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge since 2005, focusing mostly on civil cases, Van Allsburg was appointed on Wednesday by the Michigan Supreme Court as Chief Judge of that court. He will complete, through the end of 2017, the term of Ed Post who is retiring at the end of this year. The high court in 2013 designated Van Allsburg to serve as the Circuit Court’s Business Court arbiter and as Chief Judge Pro-Tem.
Van Allsburg has been active in the Michigan Judges Association, currently serving as that group’s treasurer, and was an attorney in private practice for 25 years before taking a seat on the judicial bench, including a stint as the chairman of the then-Holland Area Chamber of Commerce.
