PARK TWP., MI (WHTC) – A West Ottawa High School alum in high places is helping out a fellow Panther graduate in a unique way.
District officials say that Ana Patchin, a 2015 WOHS grad who is interning in the office of First Lady Michelle Obama, has told them that Felix Payan, who received his diploma this past spring, is being featured this week on the Better Make Room website as a first generation college student.
Patchin, who is attending the University of Michigan, is involved in the national college access project that features high school and college success stories, and it partners with Mrs. Obama’s Reach Higher initiative.
Payan, who began classes at Ferris State University this academic year, won the WOHS Panther Award that honors a grad who overcame many obstacles to achieve success.
