UNDATED (WHTC) – An effort to cut down on abuse of prescription drugs across America is coming up on Saturday.
The US Department of Justice’s Drug Enforcement Administration is staging its semi-annual “National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day” nationwide this Saturday. From 10 AM to 2 PM, law enforcement entities on all levels will be accepting unused or expired medication for safe disposal “with no questions asked.”
While these collections spotlight the effort twice a year for keeping these drugs out of the wrong hands, some communities such as Allegan County are gathering these scrips year-round, according to Heidi Denton of the county’s Department of Community Mental Health. She said on “WHTC Morning News” today, “All of our law enforcement agencies in Allegan County have permanent disposal boxes that are available year-round. Those are in their lobbies and are available during normal business hours. This event is an extension of that.”
