LANSING, MI (WHTC) – A Detroit-area auto supplier is getting some state help in its expansion into Holland.
Coastal Automotive, who specializes in new technology foam-based products, plans to invest nearly 6.5 million dollars in a Tulip City facility that would create 100 jobs over the next three years. According to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the 300 thousand square-foot former beverage bottling facility at 900 Brooks Avenue that opened earlier this summer will get a 436 thousand-dollar Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.
Coastal chose this state over Texas and Mexico to begin a four-year, planned global expansion. In August, the Holland City Council unanimously approved creating an Industrial Development District at the site ahead of an Industrial Facilities Tax Abatement.
Coastal Automotive had already had a footprint in this area through a sister company, Coastal Container, which is based in Holland.
