HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A shoe collection drive will raise money to help people in impoverished nations start, maintain and grow their businesses all while helping a local animal shelter in Holland.
Headin’ Home Pet Rescue is conducting the shoe collection drive and will earn funds based on the number of shoes collected. They have teamed up with Funds2Orgs which is a network of microenterprise partners in developing nations. Proceeds from the shoe sales are used to feed, clothe and house families too.
Merri Van Dyke is President of Headin’ Home Pet Rescue and says Funds2Orgs will donate funds for every pair of shoes collected. The rescue opened in 2008. “The animals we take in may come from other shelters as strays, owners surrenders and sometimes establishments otherwise known as puppy mills. We also provide all the vet care for the animals while they are awaiting adoption.”
The shoe collection drive runs through November 18. Gently worn, used or new shoes can be dropped off at Mapleview Animal Hospital, Dogs Bay Resort and Dogs Bay Doggie Daycare North all located in Holland.
