HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Holland Hospital’s 4th Annual School Nurse 5K Run/Walk is a family friendly non-competitive 5K that takes place at Holland High School and it designed to encourage physical activity among students.
School Nurses play an integral part of the school system says Colleen Perdock, Fund Development Coordinator at Holland Hospital. Perdock says back in 1998 there was one school nurse serving about 600 students and today that school nurse is now the director of the program. “They oversee all the school nurses that provide overseeing medications, making sure they monitor diabetes and asthma conditions and they create emergency prepardness for medical plans students for students too. They make sure teachers know what to look for as well.”
Proceeds from the event will benefit Holland Hospital’s School Nursing Program which serves the needs of more than 11,000 students in 5 local schools.
Registration is only $10. Kids can qualify to run for FREE by completing ten 30-minute physical fitness activities of their choice and recording their activity on the Fitness Tracker card found online or in the school’s main office.
You can register on-site at 4:30 p.m. and the 5K starts at 6 p.m. at Holland High School located at 600 Van raaltes Avenue in Holland.
