HOLLAND TWP, MI (WHTC) – A two-vehicle crash has left a 31-year-old Bangor woman with minor injuries while knocking out a traffic signal, leaving Tuesday’s afternoon commute backed up.
Sgt. Brent Converse with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says Jose Suarez, 61, of Holland was northbound on U.S. 31 pulling another vehicle on a dolly around 12:45 p.m. and failed to stop for a red light at the 16th Street intersection. Suarez struck Nina Denemy’s vehicle who was westbound. Witnesses told authorities that other cars ahead of Denemy’s vehicle had already crossed through the intersection and as a result of the crash, a utility pole was stuck.
Denemy refused treatment at the scene and the intersection’s traffic signal was out for 45 minutes with traffic backed up in the area.
