FENNVILLE, MI (WHTC) – Fenn Valley Vineyards in Fennville is one of Michigan’s oldest and most decorated wineries with meadows and numerous forested ecosystems that showcase the diverse beauty of the property.
The Vineyard along with Gazelle Sports, is hosting their 4th annual Vine Wine’d Vineyard Trail Run Saturday, October 1. The 5K/10K starts at 10 a.m. followed by a party featuring games, hard cider, food and entertainment. There will even be a “Grape Stomp” competition to see who can crush the most grapes.
Brian Lesperance of the Vineyard says when they started out in the 1970’s there was only a handful of vineyards and now there is over 100. Lesperance calls owning a vineyard a “team sport” because they all work together and even with the craft brewers. “We see the growth of the craft brewers as an opportunity to continue to grow wineries and hard cider producers in our state because we have such diversity of agriculture that really we can grow all the raw materials to sustain all those industries here in Southwest Michigan.”
On-site registration is open today, September 30, from 4-7 p.m and from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, October 1 at Fenn Valley’s estate located at 6130 122nd Avenue in Fennville. Those wishing to attend the party only may purchase tickets for $15.00 at the door.
