GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC) – A 67-year-old Standale man has succumbed to injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash two weeks earlier.
Michael Pater didn’t recover following the nearly head-on collision on September 13th at the intersection of 8th Avenue at Country Lane in Tallmadge Township. His classic 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air was struck by the turning 2006 Cadillac driven by 17-year-old Austin Portmann in the mid-afternoon incident. Both drivers were taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for treatment, with Portmann initially listed in stable condition.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Steve Austin said that the investigation into the crash continues, and the case will be submitted to the county prosecutor’s office for review, as is standard in all fatal accidents.
