HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Cutting through government red tape will be among the topics the Holland City Council will discuss tonight.
During the biweekly work-study session, First Ward Councilman Mike Trethewey and his colleagues will huddle with City Manager Ryan Cotton and other staffers to, as Cotton said in a report attached to the session agenda, “better understand City Council’s second highest goal” of eliminating barriers to new development and redevelopment.
“Government is known for its bureaucracy and it doesn’t always work well,” the Mayor Pro Tem said on “WHTC Morning News” today. “We’re going to try and get down ‘into the bones’ and find out how we can streamline this, make it ‘one stop shopping,’ have intelligent and smart redevelopment, but also be a friendly place to come in and do that.”
Other issues on the 5:30 PM session agenda in the Second Floor Training Center of City Hall include snowmelt assessments for residents along Central Avenue and creating a planning committee for next year’s Michigan Municipal League Annual Conference set for Holland.
