HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Step back in time and walk the path of the Fire of 1871 in Holland with the Holland Museum On the Move series.
The fire happened 145 years ago and there will be stories, images, objects and firsthand accounts as part of the walk.
Holland Visitors Bureau Executive Director Sally Laukitis says it was a very dry fall that year. “You’ll start at the Cappon House and walk along and learn more about the history of this fire that totally destroyed the City of Holland. It occured on the same day as the Chicago fire and there was also a fire in Muskegon up and down the lakeshore.”
The tour starts at 11:00 am and runs till 12:30 p.m. with $5 admission and members of the Holland Museum are free. It starts at the Cappon House Visitors Center at 228 West 9th Street in Holland.
Admission to the Cappon House and Settler’s House is included after the walk. RSVP is required or call 616-796-3329
