HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – September is National Recovery Month, a time to focus on the positive aspects of recovery from addiction. Festivals and celebrations will take place nationwide.
In Holland the 13th annual Recovery Fest will take place at Centennial Park. It’s a family-friendly event featuring free lunch, live music, games, health information with resources, support services and treatment options.
Holland Hospital Behavioral Health Specialist Mark Bombara says from middle school to the elderly are affected and there are many types of addiction.
“There are two kinds of addictions. One is a substance addiction, but they is also behavioral addition like gambling, exercise, food, internet etc…it could be any behavior as well as a substance.” Bombara says.
The free event is September 17 and runs from 11-3 p.m. More information on resources for those in need can be found online.
