MUSKEGON, MI (WHTC) – An 11-year-old boy and his stepfather were rescued in Lake Michigan at Pere Marquette Beach on Labor Day, September 5.
WZZM TV 13 reports that Sherri Talcott a former lifeguard was walking the beach when she noticed a boy in distress in the water. Talcott grabbed a life jacket and headed into the water. The boy was treading very well Talbott says and she focused on holding the dad up as he was in shock at the time.
As the three held onto the PFD, a boater pulled up and threw another life jacket out and extended a pole. All three were able to get up onto the boat and the three were taken to the Coast Guard Station by the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department.
The father was treated at the scene and the boy was not injured.
Talcott has stopped on the beach while walking to talk to a man named Jont Muni who had a camera on him and filmed the incident.
