UNDATED (WHTC) – The summer vacation season is over … the school year is underway.
The first day of classes has begun for five of the six public school districts on the Lakeshore. West Ottawa, Zeeland, Hamilton, Saugatuck and Fennville, along with the charter academies of Eagle Crest and Vanderbilt, are joining Holland Public Schools, Holland Christian Schools, Zeeland Christian School and Black River Public School who opened classrooms before the Labor Day holiday.
The next target day for districts across Michigan is four weeks from tomorrow, October 5th, when the annual first Wednesday in October student count is held. This census is used to determine the lion’s share of state per-pupil funding.
