HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – There will be more construction projects leading up to the Labor Day Holiday weekend.
MDOT says on Tuesday, August 30, there will be single-lane closures on northbound US-31 between M-45 and Robbins Road, south of Grand Haven. The closures will take place from 8-3 p.m.
Leo Evans from MDOT says work on US-31 from 8th to Quincy Street remains on schedule.
After Labor Day, there will be more intersection closures for reconstruction. The east Quincy approach at US-31 will be closed on Tuesday, September 6, to remove, reconstruct and reopen the intersection by Friday evening, September 9. Changeable message boards with information about the closure will be dispatched along Quincy later this week.
After completion of Quincy Street, similar 1 week closures are planned for the other intersections within the project (James, Felch, Riley and 8th in that order). MDOT will proceed with one intersection closure per week.
Once work on the new NB roadway is completed, MDOT will still need to place the last layer of asphalt on the new SB roadway. This will be completed after NB is reopened to traffic, with single lane closures on SB-US 31 at night.
Construction will be suspended for the Labor Day weekend starting on Friday, September 2, at 3 p.m. till Tuesday, September 6, at 6 a.m.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says the 2016 summer construction season is nearing its end.
