HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A suspect is being sought in a shooting in Blendon Township in the early morning hours on Thursday, August 25.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Captain Mark Bennett says at around 3:00 a.m. in the 8000 block of 72nd Avenue, the 55-year resident was in his barn attending to livestock and noted a suspect looking at property around his home. The victim yelled at the suspect who then fled toward a waiting white SUV, possibly a Chevy Suburban that was parked on the side of the road on 72nd Avenue.
Before getting into the vehicle, the suspect turned and fired a round in the direction of the victim. The round struck one of the victims vehicles that was parked in the yard. The victim was not injured or struck by the fired round. The suspect then got in to the waiting SUV and the vehicle left southbound from the 72nd address. No property was taken from the victim in this case.
As of Thursday afternoon, sheriff’s deputies are taking reports of other larcenies in the same general area. The other cases do not involve shots fired.
The suspect is described as a male, approximately 6 feet tall with dark hair. He was wearing a plaid button up shirt with light colored shorts and tennis shoes.
