HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – An automation design company is expanding in the Tulip City.
Officials of Koops, Inc. announced a nearly 4.9 million-dollar effort in building and equipping a new facility to bolster supplying factory automating systems for various industries in the automotive, aerospace, medical, transportation, construction, furniture and pharmaceutical fields. The 40 thousand-foot expansion was necessitated by growth that has stretched the current plant on Productions Court, south of 32nd Street, to near its capacity. When the new building, adjacent to the current factory, is complete, the 27-year-old employee-owned company will have created 60 new jobs.
In deciding to expand at its Holland birthplace instead of at a site in South Carolina, Koops will receive a 12-year property tax abatement from the City of Holland and a 360 thousand-dollar performance-based Michigan Business Development Program grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund, and over 90 thousand dollars from West Michigan Works for employee training and recruiting.
