HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – At Holland Township’s board meeting Thursday, August 18, an agreement was made with Greater Ottawa County United Way for a Housing Resource Map Appropriation.
Holland Township Supervisor Terry Nienhuis says that the Lakeshore Housing Alliance which is a United Way program is conducting research in many communities. It will establish a housing resource map that will allow Holland Township and other municipalities have a better understand of the housing resources and needs.
Neinhuis says that’s the goal of the map and the study is designed to find where the needs are and then to present it to local governments.
“I think we have to watch the development that is occuring as far as businesses and manufacturing facilities. Everybody is in a growth mode right now and those folks need employees. They need them desperately. What is a product of that is that there has to be housing.” Neinhuis says.
Neinhuis also says if there’s a lack of housing, it’s an impediment to their locating here and to their employment as well.
