HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – An attempted armed robbery occured Friday, August 19, in the early morning hours In Holland Township.
Ottawa County Sheriff Sgt. Matt Wilfong says a woman was at AAC Credit Union’s ATM located at 12390 Riley Street and got out of her car to check her balance. She says she was forced back into her vehicle by a white or hispanic male with a handgun. A second suspect also entered the car on the passenger side and the suspects made her and her husband drive to another ATM to withdraw money.
The couple were unable to get money out of the second ATM and forced to drive to another location. On the way to the other ATM the male pasenger grabbed the steering wheel and caused a crash at Quincy and 112th Avenue.
After the crash the suspects got out of the car and fled on foot. The couple suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing. No detailed description of the suspects is available at this time.
