HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Residents in a Holland neighborhood along and just south of Lake Macatawa will see their side streets repaved next month.
During last night’s meeting, City Council members awarded the annual resurfacing project to Reith-Riley Construction Company, as its bid of 761 thousand dollars was 52 thousand dollars under that of another firm competing for the contract. Between September 6th and October 6th, streets in the middle of an area bounded by the lake, Old Orchard Road, 32nd Street and Myrtle Avenue will be milled and repaved. Minor storm drain repairs will also be made on Blackbass Avenue. An Open House to go over the project is slated for Monday, August 29th, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at Central Park Reformed Church.
Although recommending that Council accept the Reith-Riley bid last night, City Manager Ryan Cotton did admit that the price tag was more than 50 thousand dollars above what had been initially budgeted. Two other planned projects were tabled in order to have this effort be financially feasible.
