HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The focus of the Holland Civic Center Project at the moment is fundraising.
The project has been downsized to $12.75 million from the $17.5 million dollar figure the council had decided on. $1 million was cut from the project after Tulip Time announced they will not be moving in the Center.
Mayor Nancy DeBoer tells WHTC News that they have had some conversations with people and have given them packets about the vision and now it’s in their court to think about it. DeBoer says they are working to set up a way for the public to be involved in fundraising.
” I’ve been talking with an area teacher who is going to launch a tree legacy program with her students. We’re gonn launch an effort to give people the opportunity to donate towards tree that will beautify that whole parking lot area and still be able to park around the trees according to our designer. It should be beautiful.” says DeBoer.
Construction is set to begin in January of 2017.
