HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – Holland is open, despite the image that orange barrels are creating a blockade around the Tulip City.
Long-term construction work on US-31 in Holland Township, along with the rebuilding of 9th Street and this week’s renovation of railroad crossings at both 8th Street and Waverly Road, has created a perception among those who don’t regularly travel into Holland that this is a place to stay away from this summer. Such is not the case, according to artist Carolyn Stich, whose retail shop on College Avenue is in the middle of all of this roadwork.
In an appearance on “WHTC Morning News,” she said that, “I’ve heard friends say that construction has kept them and the locals from downtown, and I wish that they would rethink that. It may put a minute or two onto your travels trying to find a parking spot, but we’re all still there … and I don’t really see that as that big of a deal.”
Stich will participate in the 47th annual “Art in the Park” event at Centennial Park tomorrow.
