NORTON SHORES, MI (WHTC) – Some funny money is being passed out in a Lakeshore community, and local law enforcement is not amused.
Norton Shores police are alerting area retailers of a recent spike in counterfeit bills being passed for purchases. At least four complaints of phony 100-dollar bills and one of a fake Andrew Jackson business card – a 20-dollar bill – have been registered with the department. Detectives say that these bills have also been seen at other areas in the region.
Most of the counterfeits have a “For Motion Picture Use Only” stamped on its front. Any retailer who may have come across such a bill is asked to contact Norton Shores police (231-733-2691) or the local Silent Observer.
