HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazard Statement till 12 p.m. today Monday, July 25 for the lakeshore beaches from St. Joseph to Grand Haven.
Strong currents will make swimming dangerous. Rip currents are expected as well as strong structural currents and longshore currents.
Chief Adam Smart of the Holland Coast Guard Station says that these types of waves draw people to the beach as well as the pier. “There are folks who go out on the pier and are intentionally getting swept off the pier heads here in Holland for fun. You have to use common sense on days like this.” Smart told WHTC News.
Beaches with particulary dangerous conditions today include South Beach in South Haven and Grand Haven State Park.
